LEGACIES
Roleystone Horse and Pony Sanctuary needs to provide, not only for the horses we own today, but the ones who will come along in the future. To enable us to help those who will come after us, we offer the opportunity for you to leave a legacy to us.
There are different types of legacy. Your solicitor or bank trustee department will be able to advise you on them and how they are defined.
You can leave a specific sum of money, specific items, or the ‘residuary of your estate’ (what is left over after other costs have been deducted).
Please take time to consider the Roleystone Horse and Pony Sanctuary Fund when you are writing your Will or adding a codicil to your existing Will – a little help goes a long way. We appreciate your thoughtfulness.
How can I include the sanctuary in my Will?
Here is a sample paragraph that can be inserted into your charity legacy:
I give £________ (or ‘I give all my estate both real and personal; after payment of just debts, funeral and testamentary expenses’) to Roleystone Horse and Pony Sanctuary, Westfield Lane, Bradford, BD18 1LJ, West Yorkshire (registered charity no. 1132721) for its general charitable purposes and I declare that the receipt of the Treasurer or other proper officer of the said charity shall be a complete discharge to my trustees.
If you already have a Will you can add a Codicil, which will need to be executed in the same way as your Will. It should be kept alongside your Will.
When you have written your Will, you should sign it in the presence of two witnesses who must also sign. Your witnesses must not be beneficiaries or your spouse. Keep a copy of your will for yourself and keep the original in a safe place such as with your Solicitor or Bank.
Your solicitor can give you more help and advice about leaving a legacy donation to Roleystone Horse and Pony Sanctuary.
