ABOUT US

Roleystone Horse and Pony Sanctuary

Roleystone Horse and Pony Sanctuary became a registered charity in 2009.  Horses and ponies have come and gone, volunteers too.

In the past the old wood stables were surrounded in thick mud and many a wellie was lost.  We have come a long way since then and many improvements have been made, due to a great deal of hard work and graft.

In 2013 we won a grant from the local parish council where we had further improvements undertaken to the yard. It felt fantastic to be able to walk around easily, knowing that you were not going head first into the thick mud or trying to retrieve yet another wellie.

Over the years Roleystone has had many young volunteers that came after school and at weekends.  Most now have moved on and got jobs, but a couple went onto study at equine colleges where Roleystone Sanctuary was there to support them for work experience placements.  We provide local school students a chance to undertake work experience too.

We also provide placements for veterinary students; all gaining knowledge of specific needs of elderly horses and ponies.

Many of our horses and ponies have come from sanctuary’s that have closed down; some have been rescued from the streets and, others that have been rescued from other very sad circumstances.

We are so lucky that we have amazing volunteers, who give up their time to help us in many ways. The horses and ponies would like to thank them for their kind and generous support.

We at the sanctuary would like to Thank all our supporters
